The entire design ethos just makes it awful, it is minimalist and cheap. For reference, I had a Nissan Cube as a rental car years ago and it had a nicer interior than the i3.
I get the looks thing, it's why I test drove it, but it was honestly the most disappointing experience. Never been a huge Beemer fan but that just about killed the brand for me.
The i3 is awful on the inside. Like driving in a German industrial design office with terrible and cheap interior materials. Really unpleasant and rather small too. The Leaf was great on the inside and roomy. Better driving experience too.
