This has been my mantra since about 2012.

they should appeal to…the police
This argument is particularly disgusting in light of this week’s headlines
Maybe one of the reasons the Met is such a cesspit is because there has been a concerted effort by the mainstream of politics and media to make support-for-the-police automatic and essentially unquestioning, and to try and put persistent and rigorous criticism of police and policing outside of normal politics

Couldn't agree more. It's been happening for, well, forever

All the “labour friends of the police” / a cop in every doorbell shit that came out of conference was particularly depressing in that respect

There's an argument that Labour shouldn't appeal directly to voters if they want to win an election, they should appeal to Rupert Murdoch, the police, the military etc etc.
It begins, he has a letter in The Sun this morning

There was even a Sum article talking about how glamorous Srarmer's wife is yesterday.

Lol. Don’t worry, the public will like him the more they hear from him. Polls will pick up any day now.

Polls are all over the place though. I'm hoping for a real shit-your-pants clusterfuck of a Tory conference.

A Tory conference can do a Jonestown massacre and the English press will define it as the new normal (and leader articles will point out the ‘dangerous’ poisoned kool aid gap in Starmer’s policies) CON: 56% (+15).

(still gonna vote Labour whatever, fuck it)

I'm Stuck with a Tory MP until such time as the nominal left pull their fingers out and only stand a single representative in a general election. Will continue my protest vote and be resigned to living in a 3rd world tax haven.

This is the data it’s based on and you have to really torture it to get to a point where Starmer is less popular than Corbyn.

Isn't Yougov owned by a Tory MP?
I've never seen anything to suggest it is in any way biased but potential for genetic fallacy on this is huge!

“Sure, fewer people actually like him but he inspires more neutral responses!”
As I said…
Lol

Not just an MP, an Education Secretary - Nadhim Zahawi set it up.

Yougov's attempt to be metallographically robust are legit regardless of ownership (that doesn't mean they always will be). But they hire good and very smart people to do their analysis.
I don't work for yougov.
Also an argument it is more important to appeal to the 47m registered voters than 0.5m party members
