A good friend of ours is a potter/ceramicist.
I've been arguing with her for years that a mug has to have a handle that you can fit at least three fingers into. Who the fuck wants to drink out of a mug that has 350ml of coffee in it but you can only get one finger into the handle? Would post photos but I feel that identifiably dragging a friend's work on a forum is a step too far.
Edit: Also feel quite strongly that a mug shouldn't be wider than it is tall (drinks will get cold!). Which doesn't seem to matter to the pricks who buy her work.
