Vinyl doesn't sound better because of the sound, it sounds better because you believe it does, which still means it sounds better because your brain tells you a lovely story about what better is. I'm fine with this.

Vaccines on the other hand, total sham.

think my vinyl sounds even better since I'm vaccinated

it sounds better because you believe it does
Do you believe the sound sounds better because of how it sounds, or is the sound indistinguishable from digital but sounds better due to the ritual of handling a slab of black plastic? It would be possible to replicate the error signature of vinyl using DSP if it's the sound which matters, in the same way as hipsters replicate bad analogue photography with shitty Insta filters.

That's because of the 5G chip in the vaccine.

No
sounds better due to the ritual
You've nailed it. There are many small rituals that make a significant difference to our enjoyment of food, art, drugs etc etc.

The value or beauty of a copy or reproduction does not lie in it's accuracy. I spend months painting "realistic" images, which some people consider pointless in the context of modern photography.

Csb - I recognised a place on a new and very nice wall photo in my friends house, commented on it and said it was a really nice photo of the place - only to be told it was a painting which was jaw dropping as it was so good.
Chapeau to you and your kind. /csb

I was going to set off down that route but I thought we might already be in TL;DR territory. If an abstract painting already captures everything you want to see about a subject, is photo realism an irritating distraction?

I'm on team vinyl and mechanical shifting. I'm looking forward to writing rambling letters to the editor in my retirement.

I love how cyclical the vinyl-sounds-better argument is. Especially when it comes to mastering.

especially now that there is a shortage in vinyl

Coffee cup is the one for me, proper cup vs mug vs glass vs plastic vs paper cup all affect the experience.

plus that final gibberish talk at the end of Sgt Pepper just doesn't sound the same on digital
