doing anything else more than once a year is just vanity
Nah, if I leave the off road machine covered in chalk mud, it continually sprinkles grit on the chain etc, works it's way into all the threads, and generally fucks everything. You need to clean the whole bike.
Handlebars, stem, seat post, brakes, brake pads, rotors, nipples, levers, cables, cranks, pedals are all moving or adjustable parts that I've regretted neglecting
why clean the bike itself?
all you need to clean is the moving parts, which is really only what the chain touches
the below takes me 2 minutes and sorts it all out
fill chain cleaning tool with degreaser
clean chain thoroughly
relube with dry lube
repeat when chain gets squeaky and change chain when worn past 0.75 with chain checker tool
doing anything else more than once a year is just vanity
