I've used the official BackOfAnEnvelope™ lookup tables, combined with a bit of wishful thinking.
I've seen the water coming out of the downpipe, however, and am pretty sure that it would fill a butt pretty quickly.

Also pretty much any sized roof will "catch" a lot more rain than you expect. And even a pitched roof diverts most of that water onto two quite narrow strips.
