Impressive level of vandalism going on there. Wonder how the ground floor tiles survived.

Anyone had any woodworm treatment done? Think I need to get my downstairs sorted and had a quote for 1K which feels a bit high.
-
• #48556
What makes you think it needs "treatment"?
Or do you mean to fix/replace holey timber (batman!) for costmetic/strenght reasons?

• #48557
Walking distance from me tho mate!

Just spraying, some floorboard are really fucked and one fell apart.
We removed a vinyl floor when we moved in and had the originals sanded down and they are showing signs of woodworm, prob historic, but no idea if still active.
Any experience? -
• #48559
Unless the wood is damp it won't be active.

How deep are your pockets?
If you just rejig the existing layout then ok it won't cost a fortune, but if you extend its gonna be pricey.
I mean you can bid what you want if its cash but if you've got a mortgage I wouldn't think the bank would sign it off over about 915 to 920 myself. If I'm not mistaken it doesn't even have full central heating?
Interesting you lost out on that fully done one on herongate. What did you bid on it? I would have thought it was worth most of the asking but I'd be very surprised it it went much above!

Ah bad luck, you had no chance then. Its a murky business this house buying stuff.
-
• #48566
Any thoughts on what to bid??
Fuck knows. How badly do you want it? How much head room do you have?
-
• #48567
OMG - that's insane money.

@chrisbmx116 see post immediately above this one (and my post on prior page)

uPVC is work of the devil and should be banned.
-
• #48570
Ohhh strewth, so that's roughly the right cost to lift a couple of floorboards and spray some crap under them.
What a scam! -
• #48571
Yup - massive scam and very rarely needed. Plus the "benefit" of some pretty unpleasant compounds being sprayed around.....
-
• #48572
Just cancelled it.
Feels a bit like knotweed, maybe not quite such nonsense, but same vibe.
Money printer. -
• #48573
Yeah it's up there with rising damp and injected damp "proofing" as a massive scam on worried home owners
-
• #48574
I told my wife I have cancelled it because a man on the internet told me, she had less confidence than I in my decision.

Used to live there, rent a room, it was a house whose landlord rent out all the room for like £550/each
Basically a squatter house being used to make money and then sell for even more.
come to catford, accept your destiny
