alternative reading: Are Bond is an aspiration for the kind of more-money-than-sense chud that will pay over the odds to display material goods in the hopes of impressing their CEO and those that believe buying an Omega rather than a Rolex represents some version of salt of the earch are just as delusional as the guy at the next table in the 19th hole.

Great clip! It makes perfect sense that (this) Bond would wear an Omega over Rolex, he doesn’t come from money, he has been taught and understands the value of it & the value an omega sea master offers over a submariner. His Rolex wearing old money oxford golfing friends would remind him of his poor background, Bond doesn’t want to be like those posh boys therefore rejects their favourite brands.
