I've got a proper old man pair of draper of Glastonbury tweed slippers. Ugly as sin but Sheep fleece lined and leather soles. I've worn them all day every day since COVID lockdowns started and they are finally dying.
Really want another pair. And possibly try some giessweins.
Sheep fleece doesn't seem to stink.

Mahabis are bullshit for the money. Both myself and my wife have lost the front felt part - wife threw hers away as all the felt came off eventually. I think the felt is too thin and wears incredibly easily. Agree the soles are great to popping outside but other than that they are rubbish (but they do look nice)

Mine (and my partners) haven't been too bad. They're a couple of years old now and are still okay. The little flap heel thing has some wear, but that's about it. And they go into the washing machine every couple of weeks. Although the full price is ridiculous, I got ours for cheap in the fire sale just after they went bust.

I love my insulated jacket and am thinking about something similar for my feet. Rab, North Face, Montane all have models - any recommendations?

I sewed mine up a bit either side to make them more fitted.

About 30 years ago, through a letting agency, we rented two rooms in what used to be the servants quarters at the far end of a down-a-heals 'posh' house on the outskirts of one of London's many dormitory towns. About a month after we moved in, one Sunday afternoon in late autumn we were invited to the big house for tea and cakes. It turned out that we were tenants of a life peer and emeritus prof at the local university. A most most bizarre hour or so followed. We all tried to find things to talk about where we had any common reference point at all - we failed, but in the most civil of manners. The memory that stayed with me, that encapsulated the otherworldliness of their lives to us, was his frankly tasteless maroon monogram slippers. I was baffled, why did he needs his initials on his shoes - in case he forgot who he was? To make sure that those who were allowed gaze on this toasty feet never forgot who he was (it clearly worked)?
Anyway, it appears that such things are still available through gentleman's tailors, a snip at only £350. And I'm still baffled as to why - just why? It's not even an easily legible font.

My OG ones eventually split at the side after the combo of completely smooth dole and a sweaty tiled kitchen floor lead me to a quality slide where it was a choice if my groin giving out it the slippers; the latter took one for the team and split along the outside edge.
Obviously I repaired them with gaffa tape. This did not meet with unqualified spousal approval.
So, I now have a new pair and am anticipating another decade plus of warm, comfy feet.

The slippers thread. Read the first fucking post…
Though I also rather like my mule slippers https://themulecompany.co.uk/ My OG glerups are fucking lethal on wet floors, they aquaplane, but I think their newer rubber soles have grooves to reduce this issue. My mules don’t want to kill me.

Probably going to be sweaty stink machines in no time. I alternate between haflinger boiled wool booties when working from home and shepherd shearling for the evening.

Initials are pretty lame but I have a hankering for the similar Tricker’s leather lined slippers with a lion emblem.

Just seen this when I came back to wax lyrical about my shearling clogs, hopeful the suede will be more durable.
