You're getting extremely good economy though - I personally get pretty similar to that from an (admittedly older, but still on paper considerably more fuel efficient) car that weighs 1.3 tonnes and has hardly half the power. But I also find having bikes on the roof makes nothing like that much difference.
FWIW Fuelly/Honest John suggests the RS6 at about 18-20mpg is about right.
How do you find the 996 by comparison? I'd struggle to get 30mpg with zero town driving out of my old 3.6. And 18mpg around town, no problem, without speeding!
All this talk of MPG... The other day I filled up the lowly 2 litre Quattro... It had done 16mpg. If I'm calculating correctly. 55 litres to 470 kilometres. Heavy car, full of kids and their crap. Small turbo engine. Not fuel efficient. This is my argument to get an RS4/6...
