Getting real tired of crashy suspension, low profile and potholes and having less and less space.

I've had mine about 18 months doing tyres for various cars, Mini, Citroen, Smart, Ka and still going.... Looks and feels a bit plasticky but pumps tyres.

Fuel crisis, what fuel crisis? This old monster predates the 73 one, and not a single fuck given by this guy today rolling down from Camden into central for a coffee in his 71 El Camino SS. Maybe under that cover the back is just full of petrol cans. Think @Aroogah said these were a rare sight, over here at least.

4WD and a predeliction for engaging warp drive too often then.

I’ve got a Ring pump with auto cutoff. They’re very plasticky but seem to work fine - just make sure you keep your engine running before running it.

Also, it has a really crap screw on adaptor that lets loads of that pre-set pressure out so I highly recommend you get a quick release adaptor…

All this talk of MPG... The other day I filled up the lowly 2 litre Quattro... It had done 16mpg. If I'm calculating correctly. 55 litres to 470 kilometres. Heavy car, full of kids and their crap. Small turbo engine. Not fuel efficient. This is my argument to get an RS4/6...

How long did you queue for fuel.

I would need to be driving in a way that can’t really be done within an hours drive of my house to hit that figure.

Speaking of mpg, managed to get the high score in the golf estate. 57.6 mpg from Liverpool to London.
Partly down to being in eco mode so it keeps the revs low and is more eager to go into 2 cylinder mode at moderate speed. Also not getting carried away on the m6 toll.

Slightly tempted to try it next time on regular unleaded and see if it makes a difference.

You're getting extremely good economy though - I personally get pretty similar to that from an (admittedly older, but still on paper considerably more fuel efficient) car that weighs 1.3 tonnes and has hardly half the power. But I also find having bikes on the roof makes nothing like that much difference.

FWIW Fuelly/Honest John suggests the RS6 at about 18-20mpg is about right.

How do you find the 996 by comparison? I'd struggle to get 30mpg with zero town driving out of my old 3.6. And 18mpg around town, no problem, without speeding!

With a 3.4l engine rather than the 3.6l in the 996, I used to average 23mpg in my Cayman. Same as the Impreza.
