Did you fit those boards yourself Ed or get someone to do it for you?
Will be in need of a decent fitter to lay some reclaimed boards in our loft soon. Can you pass on details if you would recommend them? -

You should also shake it well before use.
At least a week before ideally. -

Heinz ketchup is surprisingly additive free.
The festival burger van ketchup however will probably survive long after our extinction.

I also think pee is stored my balls.
FTFY.

Thinking of installing a tado wired smart thermostat and some of their thermostat radiator valves.
Remember there being some chat on here about using them. How easy is it for you to install thermostat and valves yourself and what are the issues or problems that have cropped up since you’ve swapped over..The rad valves are easy to install unless your existing TRV valves are very old and shonky. Then you have to replace the TRV valves at the same time. Each one has a pair of (AA?) batteries in it, they need replacing bi annually depending on use.
Wired thermostat looks straightforward assuming you just have a combi boiler and are connecting it directly to the boiler.

Reminds me of the squeezy bottle of nacho cheese I had from the States. You could microwave the bottle so you could have hot cheese, let it cool and then repeat some weeks later and apparently you wouldn't die.

yeah I have a combi boiler, fitted about 15yrs ago. radiator performance is all up and down, no matter how you turn it down or up, it's either boiling hot, or cold, and sometimes it's boiling hot when the valve says it should be off.

Sounds like the trv valves are stuck.

timber
why hate yourself so much?
Get UPVC, slide up and down smoothly for years, complete the look with plantation shutters

uPVC. Much quiet, many warm, verr cheaper. Plus, as said, at glance you'd struggle to tell the difference from gloss painted timber ones.

Have you tried searching for "cafe rod"? It brings up a lot of brass ones, though I didn't see any immediately with brackets like yours.

I refurbish sash windows, retaining as much of the originals as possible. Sometimes changing all the glass for 6.3 acoustic, upgrading weights, sealant instead of putty, adding thorough draftproofing. It's a 4 week job per window for me. Size does matter but £2-2.5k is not unreasonable. The problem with replacement windows in comparison is the damage to the interior/exterior decoration that needs repairing. Fitting is usually the weak link with replacements.
This is not an advert, I have a full order book but there will be people all over who specialise in local windows.
I've done some really early grade II listed sashes, they were out of true in every dimension.

Do you do that in situ or are they took out and done in a workshop?

I do that in a workshop and I leave plywood in the empty boxes. I'm working on having some spares for my local window sizes.
There are a lot of nice looking replacements around now. The way I do them keeps a lot of the originals so I guess it's more eco friendly.
what's the worst that can happen ?
