What is this?can you share the route?

Pretty sure it'll be this https://gloriousgravel.com/product/gravel-sportives/north-peaks-epic/

cheers, looks pretty familiar from that graphic. £40 though...

Non-tubeless tyres and not enough time to properly test a new tubeless setup in any event. I didn't fancy setting off across remote Scottish moors on an untested tubeless setup.

On that same site is a sportive happening today around Mam Tor. Would be interested in what route that takes but cannot see a map.

I'd seriously fucked up building the frame for my New Gravel Bike
Please elaborate?

The rear triangle's not square so the rear wheel is at an angle vertically. I'll have to chop it off and start again. Front triangle seems OK though.

God I love these so so much... is it yours?

• #21485
Indeed. Quite rigid but love the geo

Yeh that’s the one. I don’t really know the area and I’m not motivated to do long rides on my own so for me £40 for aid stops, signed route, the offer of a lift home and a free beer, and the chance to borrow a wahoo for the day is good value.

Should be pretty good! I would pay 40 to have bike wash at the end of any ride round that way after a week of rain.
-
• #21488
Enter next time and I’ll wash your bike for you! It starts in new mills which is close to me. Another reason I’m doing it, rather than driving miles to race in less nice areas I’m now just entering every event near to my house- fell running, trail running, marathon mtb, gravel biking, tri, maybe a cross country run. Should lead to a varied year

I did this and it worked out fine. I figured if it went wrong, I put a tube in and I'm no worse off than starting with tubes.

With non-tubeless tyres? Brave. Chapeau.

Peak glorious gravel was no fun. Would not recommend. Too much road climbing to get to a tiny bit of off road. Peak gravel does exist but not where we went.

There still isn't any gravel in Greater Manchester

That's surprising. I'd have thought you could string a pretty good route together heading out that way. Might dig the maps out this week and put together something more fun.

Too much road for me but then I did ride a hardtail. There was a couple of bits of genuine gravel but even stuff like the Longdendale trail wasn’t much fun- half flooded and shitfromabutt, bleak, windy and weirdly soft and rocky at the same time. I think you could do a much better route in central peaks

That’s not gravel, that’s a fire road.

It’s nice that you thought he did the PR sportive not that long ago.
