  • Someone near me is selling a new 58 cm CAAD Optimo frameset.
From the pictures it looks like the 2020 model.
Anybody riding a current Optimo model that can tell me max tire clearance?
The only problem is the price. How much would you pay for the frame?

    Thanks
    Martin

  • £200-300 max

  • Thanks.
Seller seems to be a little bit "optimistic" with his pricing. He wants 500 €/430 £.
Guess I'll just wait and see... It'll probably go down in price if it doesn't sell quickly.

  • People - is is impossible, or just difficult to put mudguards on a current SuperSix Evo disc?

  • Should be plenty of space for some clip on ones, theres clearance for 33mm tyres.

That said it'll look and feel horrible, just buy a winter bike with proper full guards.

  • Anyone on the hunt of power meter? I have a hollowgram one

  • just to see how gum wall looks... I think I prefer to see it like this. Can't use this wheelset because it has 28c tubulars. Not free space between the tubular and the front derailleur suport. It works just fine with 25c but not with 28c.

  • You are right of course and I already have a gravel bike, which can fit mudguards for winter use... I think I need to abandon all-weather practicality for my 'fast' bike.

  • Great job, really nice

  • current state of my modded r700 warrior

  • it can, but depends on rim+tyre. i have had radically different results. it was limited to 25 max with some alloy rims, suddenly with wide carbons i could fit 28mm.

  • @bobble that '5 is looking smart mate !
Change the saddle though, that bad boi is not HHSRB ;-))))

No wonder it didn't fit me, it looks like its made for giants !

  • it is, turns out deep carbon is that much faster on flat terrain

  • Cheers, just cleaned it up a bit. Unfortunately the rear rim is cracked (see CP thread) so need a new rear wheel. Plan to check fit is to cheaply service it (new inner ring, chain, cassette, brake pads, cables) and take it on a couple of rides

  • My six13 has been tweaked and done a lot of miles since I last posted it (new cranks and longer stem).

I’ve got an old CAADX that was in a sorry state so I’m now trying convert it into a winter road bike so I can throw some bigger tyres on it and mudguards, and use for off-road if I switch the tyres out.

Aiming to just get it built up first then will tweak as I go. I was running it flat bar, so now I’ve gone drops I’ve switched to mini-v’s and stuck some TRPs on.

Vittoria corsas won’t be staying on here, I’ve just grabbed the wheels off another bike. I want to polish the crank arms silver and maybe throw on a bigger chain ring, currently 46/36…

Trying to decide between silver stem and seatpost or black. Not sure I’ll stick with these funky hover bars either. But maybe.
