explain me the turbo setup like I am 5 year old pls
One of these kits, assuming it's a HG freehub body. Just plonk the sprocket in the middle and find out what gear you need to be in to line it up and then stay there
Andel, Surly, or Gusset sprockets work with 9spd chains, so I think ( same inner width? ) are ok with 12spd. The cheap pressed sprockets are thicker, so only work with 8spd chains or lower

I've used it successfully before, but went back to gears, as I actually like using sim mode for turbo stuff

I rarely do workouts on the turbo, as I can no longer kid myself that I'm training for something

if you are not sponsored and actually ride your bikes, why would you need more than 10 speeds?
-
• #21633
at least not mentioning Wahoo SYSTM !
-
• #21634
Need to make 10-51 3 speeds. Road, cruise, climb, sorted.

Just go 8 speed and enjoy £15 cassettes and £6 chains.

I did on the touring bike, sadly the MTB needs a bit more range and a clutch RD :-/

London Fixed Gear and SINGLE SPEED
You can turn a sprocket at home and chains are 3 for a ha'penny

The ability to replace components quickly with what a local shop might have, or could be cobbled together from what your friends are riding.
Not such an issue if you are happy to bin a ride and head to the train station then wait for the postman to turn up with your obscure parts/ride a different bike.

Now we're talking, I want to make my full sus bike single speed, anyone got any recommendations for a decent tensioner that could handle some abuse?

11 Speed, 11-40 x 34T.
Haven't found a hill I cannot climb just yet.

That's gravel gearing.

Snap!
Would love a 10-45 12speed for real european mountains though.

Single sprockets and cheap chains are definitely the way
Even when you have multiple gears

What kind of rides are you going on, where everybody's bikes are self-destructing around you?

It's not a common feature of a ride it is true, but there is a reason that contracts call for replacement parts to be COTS.

obscure parts
I mean, we are talking about parts that are a few years old.
Suspect an awful lot more people are riding 8 speed than 12 speed

Take a walk round the assembled riders at a run of the mill Sunday club-run/trail centre carpark and my suspicion would be that that would not be the case.

Best to avoid these
Amey is never gonna get the Chocolate Eclair KOM with 10 speed
