  • I am due to give my wheelbuilder my decision this week ref which hub to go for. Still torn between the Spa cycles own brand one and the Son 28, both in boost. Quite a difference in price and unfortunately not much info/test analysis of the Spa one.
I will be using it for night MTB'ing locally (South coast area) and also for bike packing/touring abroad. I'm pretty sure the Son 28 will have the lower drag factor but not sure how much of an issue this will be off road. Decisions, decisions....

  • I could be wrong, but I think the SPA own-brand boost hub is a version of an SP. That's what the body shape looks like anyway, and I rememeber reading that Kasai weren't making a boost version, so it'll be non-servicable.

  • SPA CYCLES IC-KC1F Hub Dynamo (15x110mm Thru Axle, Centre-lock Disc)
    OUR PRICE £126.00
Spa Cycles launch our range of highly-efficient (70%) IC-hub dynamos. Their key feature is their innovative end-cap design. By switching end-caps the dynamo wheel can be interchanged between bikes with quick-release, 12mm thru-axle and 15mm thru-axle formats. Hubs are available in standard 100mm and boost 110mm widths.

I do like that idea of flexibility in being able to change the wheel between different bikes!

Any idea if you can do that with Son too? If so, I will probably bite the bullet and order the Son.
