And yet here we are, both Labour and Kier Starmer are beating Corbyn in terms of voting intention polls. I agree that they aren't capitalising quickly enough and that they are a long way from being electable, but I disagree that its all doom and gloom.

He's not wrong

That's the point though - to be a long way from electable against this shower of venal, incompetent fuckers is appalling. Get a bit closer to an election and Johnson will do his jolly schtick and we'll get another 5 years of this.

Interestingly, if you aggregate bookmakers odds on the next election, the odds of another Tory majority have dropped by about 12% in the last year.
I appreciate that I'm grasping at straws here, but I don't get the abandon all hope PoV. Starmer became leader of the opposition during a pandemic and is missing opportunities to capitalise on that for sure, but theres a long way to go.

Wes Streeting is a fucking ballbag but I like what he was saying about education today.

It's a shame Keir is so dull. He's got nice hair but the charisma deficit is just hopeless. Not electable, unless he can get a swagger/gravitas transplant from Ken Clarke.

Thought he was alright on C4 tonight, hopefully he brings some of that zeal tomorrow

I know this has already been posted but doing it again as it's so important.

Starmer speech highlight:
My dad was a tool maker. Although in a way so was Boris Johnson's.

• #2216
Ha! Did he say that? All is forgiven, bloody lad.

im sure the civility pearl clutchers will be along in short order. you can't say mean things about Johnson!
-
• #2218
He followed it up with a sort of compliment towards Johnson...saying that he didn't think he was a bad person, just "a showman with nothing left to show".
-
• #2219
ugh. way to waste a perfectly good sckbrn, starmer, you fucking coward.
if johnson isn't what he considers a bad person i shudder to think who else qualifies.

Earning his money with this speech, how long?

Tbf the hall seem to be lapping him up, multiple standing ovations and continuous applause

I think that speech was actually a masterpiece considering the circumstances. It'll provide some good clips for the news and Twitter. The heckling from the Corbyn lot kind of amplified the messaging too.
