Thanks again to everyone for their insights. Current plan is as follows. Go to Fully Charged for the test ride on Saturday and have a go with mini_com. If I am enamoured by anything in stock or with a shortish lead time (explain that I would pay a deposit in short order so they understand I'm not tyre kicking) then I will go for that. I don't think I can go too far wrong at that level. If they have nothing, go to Pure Electric then London Green.
The Packster would be great, but if it's just not available, then what's the point. I think I would be very happy with the UA and by the time I add the Cargo Line motor and some accessories, it should be high enough spec to be in stock/attractive to make the sale happen. If it does by any miracle happen to be the Packster, then I would have to accelerate some kind of out front storage. Which actually wouldn't be ideal, as we will hopefully be looking to have the front garden re-done next year so it would have to come apart etc.
Every trip I take in the car now that could have been by cargo bike is actually making me sad. Nursery drop off this morning (4 miles away) and three bags of shopping on the way home. Would have been PERFECT!
Also, I've not ridden a bike since mine was stolen from the old flat a year ago.
