  • I'm considering a snow bike for next winter. I'll avoid a fat bike if I can, not something I've ever wanted and the bike should be used in the summer as well.

How well are studded 26" tires handling proper winter snow conditions?

  • I used the schwalbe ice spikers for snowy forest riding and was really impressed, was worried at first if I hit any tarmac but after a few rides it seemed to bed in the spikes and made them less sketchy. They were a lot more durable than I expected. I’d definitely recommend spikes, in the 90’s I used conti 1.5 cross country which cut through the snow pretty well but were a tad sketchy on ice.

Do you want mine? 60-559/26×2.35 Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro used once for about 15 miles in January 2013 and we've not had snow worthy of the name down here since. £50 for the pair inc. UK postage
