Voeckler was the French DS

He was last year as well, wasn't he? Got his tactics right both times, (and doubted on both occasions when France were attacking a long way out).

Does the DS have a role once the racing begins in a race like today's?

No indeed! Though to be fair, they were. Can play it as well as you like but if "the guy" doesn't have the legs then it's for nothing. Happy for the team and rider who animated the race most to have won

Being a newly fledged Brussels resident I made the trip out the course and found the best spot I could, bearing in mind I was on my road bike and navigating around Flanders was tricky. I found quite a good corner about 60k from the finish and got a few shots:

These are probably the best of what I got. I actually write for a news website and so will do a piece on this tomorrow - if you had to pick 2 of the selection above which would you go for? I'm thinking that 2 and 4 probably best capture the spirit... Also if you can name some of the riders that would be grand.
