Short term only...very attractive, not!

Apparently Priti is opposed to that.
FT article says she's been over-ruled.
However, IR-35 issue still present, plus a shortage of drivers in the EU. How are we going to compete with the EU27 for these drivers, being as we have specialised in being total cunts to Forrins for five years?
"Come and experience the hostile environment first hand, whilst being paid less than in France for the same job".

But I thought there was a Europe-wide shortage of lorry drivers?
-
• #30780
Shapps said Poland and Germany are having fuel shortages but Poles and Germans reckon he's full of shit.
-
• #30781
Yes, I think one entertaining lesson that may come from all this is that the UK must compete with the EU27 for the immigration required to run the country. Patel’s head is going to revolve.

I wonder which countries around the world have HGV class one licences that we consider equivalent to ours?
-
• #30783
Gavin Esler @gavinesler Just checked with friends in Germany - they
have no fuel shortages, no acute HGV driver shortages, no empty
supermarket shelves, no gas crisis, no panic buying. “But we also have
no Brexit,” as one of them pointed out. -

But seriously where are these £30/h fruit picking jobs. I've got some weekends spare.
-
• #30785
There is just that the UK has a larger proportion of shortage.
As a bonus many mainland drivers are not interested in doing GB runs anymore either due to customs hassle as they get paid by distance, not time.

absolutely loving the petrol station scenes at the moment, fucking idiots.
-
• #30787
I am stuck at home working, hope there will be still queues later today.
-
• #30788
My local petrol station has been refilled- and now has a big queue.
-
• #30789
Has now blocked the A205 eastbound.
-
• #30790
I can report the same picture from France: "no fuel shortages, no acute HGV driver shortages, no empty supermarket shelves, no gas crisis, no panic buying [and] no Brexit".
-

Nothing to see here over the water...
There are Covid related employees shortages and hassle with some goods but no "turkeys voting for Christmas not being able to buy Christmas turkeys" warnings.

The French newspaper liberation on brexit.
The UK express has already written a "but but but but Ze French are sore losers" article if anyone wants to read it.

“But we also have no Brexit,” as one of them pointed out.
They do, as much as the UK does, just the impact is different, as was foreseen.

• #30794
Yup still full of traffic

Gavin Esler @gavinesler Just checked with friends in Germany - they
have no fuel shortages, no acute HGV driver shortages, no empty
supermarket shelves, no gas crisis, no panic buying.I can confirm all of this.
“But we also have no Brexit,” as one of them pointed out.
True, but I also have no idea why Bremen would want to leave the federation.
-
• #30796
Musical differences would seem to be the obvious reason.
-
• #30797
Can we cancel this yet and go back?
I was in Italy for what turned out to be three days this week and it just felt better, easier, happier?
-
• #30798
We want the hanse back and rule the north sea!!!
-
• #30799
Wouldn't the return of the Hanseatic League leave Bremen subservient to Lubeck?
-
• #30800
Well, it's probably not a good idea anyway. Just like the original brexit.
Apparently Priti is opposed to that.
