Nah, owners are already mostly finance companies, and the future is only going to further erode the 20th century notion that somebody travelling by car is the driver and owner of the vehicle.

I wish I could share your optimism over the demise of the private motor car. Hope you are right.

There will be just as much traffic, and just as much will be single-occupant 4-wheeled vehicles weighing nearly 2 tonnes each, it will just be autonomous and rented on demand. In fact, being chauffeured by a robot makes going by car much more attractive than it is now, so traffic should increase.
