Tubular users: when fitting new tub to previously used wheel, do you start again by cleaning off the glue residue on the rim? Or do you leave it be and paint on a couple of new layers of glue?
Depends on how old the glue is, what sort of state it's in etc. It can be a fucker to get off sometimes too, so depends on how much time and motivation you have to remove it.
I've not used it myself, although I'm a big fan of their tub tape, but this stuff is meant to be very effective:
I remember, in the dim and distant, using Nitromors. There was a big can of the stuff to hand, so I used it. Even allowing that it's less dangerous now than formerly, I don't think I would now!
