Most online bike shops don't seem to sell them at all
But online bearing suppliers do. If you're setting up to be ready for legacy bike stuff, get 100 each of 1/4", 3/16", 5/32"and 1/8" from somebody like https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=23_7240&&selection=AISI+52100+Chrome+Steel+Loose+Ball+Bearings

There are 9 x2 and they could be 1/4" but I've no idea where my calipers are to check.
Most online bike shops don't seem to sell them at all. I could buy a lifetime supply box of assorted sizes for not much from Amazon but I'd rather give some money to a shop.
