  • Also, fuck me.

    Told you :)

What are you going to put on it? General consensus these days is lacquer > varnish so I'd suggest something like Bona Mega if you've not decided.

  • We got Osmo clear Matt to put on, not too keen on shiny floor.

@nankatsu We have Bona Mega (matt) on our newly sanded floors and it's good.

Bona stuff are good, there’s a place called Floor Sander Rental not too far from us whom were excellent not only about hiring but helping us understand how to work it and what to look out for, had we not know, it would make the jobs way harder.

  • The Osmo clear matte is great

  • How'd you find the edge Sander? That thing was such a bastard.

  • Lacquer doesn't have to be shiny...

We got Bona Mega Traffic HD which is matt. It's designed for airport floors and stuff so should do us!

If you use oil be aware that it really needs retreating every few years, whereas lacquer is good for 15-20 years IIRC. We used Osmo at our last place and it was more orangey than I'd have liked, if I had decided to use Osmo again I would have used Polyx Raw Natural which has a bit of white pigment in to keep it paler.

I'm still a big fan of Osmo but more recently have used that stuff on a desk and am going to use it on a coffee table I'm going to restore.
