The technology isn't there yet for them to go fast enough to keep up

They don't; only that you're not allowed to fish.

Maybe because they are more true than painful.

You don't have any sandals? Get with the times, man
-
• #21236
Embarrassing, but I do recommend sandals (like Tijmens or basic Teva for the less bold sandalist). No one likes buying socks (except waterproof ones to go with your sandals).

Want to hear from real people, so what do you recommend - currently riding mostly old steel (road) and in possession of descent alu hardtail 29er (light off-road) :
- Comfort over speed is a must, dodgy wrists awaiting more scalpel plus body not as flexible as few decades ago
- Budget £2k as Cycle to scheme max, usual discounts can be applied
- hydro brakes must
- leaning towards 2x front for wider choice of gears, but can be persuaded otherwise
- any material - carbon/alu/steel as long as within budget
Thanks

On most bike forums, everyone just recommends what they have, so...
Tripster.
Mine is 2x Di2 with 650x47/50 tyres but also ran 700x50. They're cheap, they're solid, they ride over stuff.
And you're not even coming to the Badgers reunion to watch me crash again
