I recall reading somewhere (Tony Oliver's Touring Bikes book maybe) that it is worth coating metal mudguards with underseal for noise reduction. Has anyone experimented with this and, if so, what did you use and how much to apply?

I have SKS Chromoplastic 45mm mudguards fitted to my touring bike (and I like them a lot), my question relates to a new BOB Yak trailer I am assembling that has its own mudguard included. While the trailer is still in pieces, I remembered something about the underseal trick with metal mudguards.
