Normally, what happens here is that we get text messages from the govt warning us, and schools are closed, the metro shuts down, planes are tied down on the runways, parks closed and trees secured, etc.... and then the typhoon changes course.
But this year we've had two hits! The last one was a "super typhoon" and it was pretty badass, lots of trees down, floods etc. This one was a "strong typhoon" and only grazed us, so nothing exciting - everything is closed and it's very windy and rainy.

typhoons are fun had a super typhhon hit hk 2 years ago when I was there lots of mad vids of buildings swaying big cranes falling or spinning round. But normally like you said it gets flaged as a T8 = go home stop every thing and it changes direction.

Do you get sirens and stuff? Do you have to shelter in bunkers or tape windows?
