I was about to post the same. Its not the kind of thing you dream about growing up is it?

I guess it still a race worth winning for national teams, so you have a job to do for your team leaders. But once you have done that job, it doesn't have the same motivation as getting to the velodrome in Roubaix, for example.

There’s a lot of DNFs in one day races in general.
Also if you get dropped, you don’t have to ride the final 100k to get to your team bus as it’s a circuit.

I think at that level, better to DNF than get lapped.
