  • My 50mm Pirelli in the front isn't going to work anywhere wet given the lack of clearance so I was thinking of throwing it on the rear where there's more room and then getting a 650Bx47 Hutchinson Touareg for the front. Anyone have any info on how they size up and opinions (that I'll ignore based on stock levels anyway) about their grip, ride, etc?

  • I’ve been running Touareg for a while, great tires, really tough and surprising grip levels off road. The best gravel tire I’ve tried, and there’s been a few.

I’ve found they’re pretty true to size. (I’ve been running the 700x40) would highly recommend. Bit slow on road though due to the thickness and toughness. (Compared to g one “soft tissue protection” all round) for instance

The review I read marked it down due to stiffness, I would much rather have a a bit of souplesse for a tyre that doesn’t get loads of cuts and punctures.

  • Cheers. It's for touring in Scotland so if I had a choice between putting out 50W more to push some heavy tyres vs. fucking around trying to get a flat tyre fixed in the pissing rain, I'd take the former every time. If I was racing I'd be prepared to risk flats for speed but touring, fuck that.
I was thinking another Cinturato (but skinnier) for my bike and G-One Ultrabite for the front of the grrl's for the grip but
