I understand why you're saying what your saying but you're just wrong because of set up. I am writing this mostly out of disdain for the new fancy kid-only "cargo bikes" these days.
With the right set up it carries two kids comfortably, easily, conveniently and without gimmick and plastic. I've been riding my bullit with two kids for 4 years now since the first one was born and straight through the second child also. Never missed a month. One kid and a child seat for the other infant? Check. Two giant toddlers? check. Two giant toddlers, a bag for each of their toys, my supplies for our lunch and quick stop groceries on the way home? check.
my cargo box is 24 inches wide on the inside, has a seat with seat belts, and can take actual 200 bricks thrown at it and keep laughing. I even built a windshield for it for winter and cold rain.
release the truck strap and the sides fall off to create a flat bed.
the thing is utilitarian, tough, shrug off bags of cement, and turn around to take kids to the beach piece of kit. wouldn't trade it for the plastic crap that is urban arrow arrow or whatever else it marketed these days.

Did you build that box yourself? It's very nice. A bespoke wooden box is clearly more versatile and attractive than the plastic thing on my UA.
My long term plan was to build a wooden frame that would receive my toolbox, and also have a strategic flat surface for sheet material, furniture or whatever else that was bigger than the load area and could sit over the front wheel.
I'll say one thing for plastic/ metal box over timber though, it lasts for ever. The ply platform on my 2 year old trailer is already disintegrating.
I forgot to mention the best thing about my new bike though which is that I picked it up for £3150, it's in great condition, and these start as around 5k.

edit. just looked through the thread, it's a Holde box.. looks great. I'd like to make a version out of plastic sheet, i wonder if the cost of getting someone to CNC all the parts would be the same cost as the $400 for the holde box

That's impressive, I'm sure you could sell plans or a kit version of your setup -- or perhaps put the plans out there as open-source.
