Semi-solid tyres have been around for decades (well solid tyres since bikes were invented).
They were popular where I grew up because of the jacks and puncture weed and it's flat so the fact they're dead and slow didn't bother anyone because they didn't have to stop 5x on a ride to fix p_nct_res.I assume there's some newer, nicer ones these days (I'm thinking blue foam for some reason)
A bit? They're way more expensive and I'm not sure their claims hold much water

I had a discussion on the gravel thread about them and aerothan and RevLoops. Their main benefit is smaller packsize, so useful for racing and minimal setups.
