• My Garmin Forerunner 35 has just failed: broken where the straps screw into the watch body (see photo below). I bought it in April 2018 so it's past its 2 year warranty period, and Garmin's response has been to offer a restored device for £66. Given that a new one retails at c.£85 this isn't an amazing offer, especially as the warranty on the former is only 90 days whereas a new product comes with 2 years. On the other hand it will avoid electrical landfill.

Question is to whether this is still the right option for me. Things I like about the F-35:

    • "Silent" (wrist vibrating) alarm: helpful for early morning ride wake-ups
    • Easy run tracking with optical HR and cadence plus pace measurements etc
    • Small and unobtrusive
    • Sleep tracking (albeit of dubious quality, like the HR)

    Things I don't like:

    • Limited lifespan/fragile. This is my second one to break (first one was a digital rather than physical fault)
    • Poor quality HR/sleep data

Is there another option of similar price? I don't need emails or music on my watch so this isn't something I'm looking for
