We did actually feel bit bad afterwards for putting him on a table of strangers (who are all really nice people, though, in our defence).
It could have been worse - we could have put him next to the 80+ year old woman that my MIL invited (not us - we didn't want her there at all) to sit on the top table, who we had to chaperone, entertain and placate, and keep away from the booze.
