This misinformation is so disgusting, infuriating and tragic.

The [emergency rooms] are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated.
Pretty darn tootin' American.

Prince Charles just about far away enough from this to claim he knew nothing. Yeah right. The guy is as bad as his brother. Morally bankrupt.
It boils my piss when people say ‘isn’t the queen a wonderful woman’.
She’s raised two sons who are reprehensible in every way. From being friends with paedos (both of them) to selling honours/access, to blaming the press for their own unhappiness even though it stems from them being inherently bad people. Lower than a snake’s belly.

She’s raised
That is a stretch

You beat me to it.

It was moved to Brechin from Stirling, where it had been so frequently (and deservedly) vandalised that, well...

She may not have raised them but she was very quick to close ranks around Andrew after the Epstein stuff blew up (and very strong evidence emerged that he raped a trafficked venerable girl).
Fuck that family. -

Can't believe this fucking NI increase is going ahead. I can only conclude that it's because the misinformed general public doesn't realise a) how regressive it is and b) that it doesn't go into some special pot that pays for the NHS and pensions. Fuck off Boris you bellend.
(Before I get attacked I'm happy to pay more (though I'm not exactly a high earner) but NI is an absolutely shit tax)

(Before I get attacked I'm happy to pay more (though I'm not exactly a high earner) but NI is an absolutely shit tax)
I'm not, as a below average earner that is already having £86 a month of universal credit removed...

There is an apparent concession by the government that it will be ringfenced for social care. But we all know that anything they say isn't worth a bean. Presumably they will just reduce the un-ringfenced part of the department budget to compensate...
NI is an absolutely shit tax
^ also this all day.

I can’t understand why they can’t use the £350 million a week we’re not now paying the EU to fund social care.
-
• #66040
Apparently polling consistently shows people are happy for NI to go up as they think it pays for health services rather than just being a tax on employment

It's always an unwelcome reminder of how aesthetically unaware some people (who have other strengths) are when you see things like this. The last couple of decades have seen so much bad sculpture--I guess because people are turning away from non-figurative art, but it'll still take a while for standards to increase again ...

a trafficked venerable girl
I know you mean 'vulnerable', just thought I'd point it out.

Alternatively, it's not just Americans who make bad statues of white supremacists (Gibson, not Wallace).

• #66044
I'll raise you, erm, Lucille Ball (not on the point of white supremacism, just awfulness of sculpture):

There is an apparent concession by the government that it will be ringfenced for social care
I can imagine this will be a cast iron ring fence.
I can also imagine any existing social care funding will be cut back 110% of whatever the NI rise will generate.
Fuck the government -
• #66046
It's not possible to ring fence like this. Any government can always change the law. It's bollocks
(Sorry, you are probably well aware, it just fucks me off as well)
-
• #66047
Got confused for a moment and thought William Gibson had become a horse-riding white supremacist.
-
• #66048
Any government can always change the law
Or the government writing the ringfencing legislation can just write it so it’s so full of holes that it’s meaningless - in the interests of efficiency and in case someone later decides not to amend it how they like... This lot have a track record for legislation so bad it’s ridiculous anyway. And that’s when they mean it…
-
• #66049
Yup. I agree. Hence: Presumably they will just reduce the un-ringfenced part of the department budget to compensate...

It's so gross when multiple journalists start using the same awful phrase about a Government policy because they've all got the same communication, or worse they just copy each other.
How many times are we being told that the Government is "grasping the nettle" of social care.
I'm tired of "reading the toilet wall" of British media.
Never.
