Can't believe this fucking NI increase is going ahead. I can only conclude that it's because the misinformed general public doesn't realise a) how regressive it is and b) that it doesn't go into some special pot that pays for the NHS and pensions. Fuck off Boris you bellend.
(Before I get attacked I'm happy to pay more (though I'm not exactly a high earner) but NI is an absolutely shit tax)

There is an apparent concession by the government that it will be ringfenced for social care. But we all know that anything they say isn't worth a bean. Presumably they will just reduce the un-ringfenced part of the department budget to compensate...

It's always an unwelcome reminder of how aesthetically unaware some people (who have other strengths) are when you see things like this. The last couple of decades have seen so much bad sculpture--I guess because people are turning away from non-figurative art, but it'll still take a while for standards to increase again ...

Or the government writing the ringfencing legislation can just write it so it’s so full of holes that it’s meaningless - in the interests of efficiency and in case someone later decides not to amend it how they like... This lot have a track record for legislation so bad it’s ridiculous anyway. And that’s when they mean it…

It's so gross when multiple journalists start using the same awful phrase about a Government policy because they've all got the same communication, or worse they just copy each other.
How many times are we being told that the Government is "grasping the nettle" of social care.
