I have Nest mains powered smoke alarms
Are these worth the extra cost? We've just had all the wires put in each room for smoke alarms as we're having a loft conversion, been reading alot of stories about false alarms with wired smoke alarms. Nest ones look appealing but spending the best part of a grand on smoke alarms makes me feel a bit sick.

Never had a false alarm, they look a lot nicer than the cheap ones, you get remote alerts on your phone and they have a nice little nightlight feature. We only needed three though.
The accuracy is the most important thing to me, I'd rather not die a fiery death or have annoying false alarms.
For context our place came fitted with cheap wired ones and one of them had been randomly going off and disturbing the neighbours before we bought the place.
Well they're required by current building regs but apart from that you're golden 😂
Also if mains ones are already installed I suspect that @NickCJ replacing them with battery alarms would not be kosher.
I have Nest mains powered smoke alarms because I've never found a battery operated one I trust to be reliable - they're made down to a price point and I've had new ones from supposedly reputable brands not pick up smoke.
Standard mains powered alarms are cheap though.
