Bikes are not meant to be ridden
Finally, I'm doing something right!
-
• #21454
Ah, shit, I knew I was doing something wrong!

Chilterns looking a bit gnarlier than I remember...
-
• #21457
Noice.
Looks almost as sick as me getting fully rad air off the curb outside.
-
• #21458
Ah man that looks like so much fun

• #21459
fully rad air off the curb
That's got to be worth at least 2 chains

Don't understand why the sponsors aren't lining up...

Are these the ones not rated for drops anything higher than 60cm, or did I imagine that?
-
• #21462
Now that you mention it, I think I did see something like that

This being the problem. The Canyon, it's available but the colours are questionable. Some may say, a little Batty.
I'd usually just buy a frameset. But no, not available. Hence looking at the full bike.
The Spur looks bloody brilliant. But no stock.
The Epic - looks good, and I could use the new Pikes I've just acquired having dropped the travel 10mm. Then sell the groupset, forks etc and try and get some money back.
I have chased Evans this morning RE warranty as - act surprised - they have not acknowledged my warranty request. This is having asked me to email pictures as they don't want my bike sat around "in the way". Starting to think that having it in the way may be incentive to do something about my request.

If you have warranty worries with Evans maybe canyon is not the best bet?
Friends spectral (?) broke on the chainstay.
They first offered to buy the bike back for half of what he paid. Which is interesting given the thing was less than 2 years old. Then they took ages to send him a new frame when they already had his.
When he received it all the small stuff like guides and so on was missing and he waited two more months for that. -

The bike broke on 6th of February.
The new one was ready to ride three weeks ago. -

Yeah, I'm still trying to kick off the warranty process. Only taken 6 days so far.
I'll probably just get another bike in the meantime and sell the frame if I get it back either repaired (new rear triangle on 2017 bike...) or a replacement.
Really do not want to get stuck with the second hand market having missed out on 2021 available bikes and then miss the 2022 order boat!
I wish it were Merlin. I had a refund for my frame within a week recently when returned!

Chap at Glentress today on a new looking Specialised something or other- Fox 34’s and Magura MT7/MDR-P rotors. Do they come from the shop like this?

Has anyone ridden at Bavella in Corsica?
-
• #21471
Some of the e-bikes come with MT7’s, I wouldn’t expect to see a 34 on one though.

It was a Stumpjumper, based on the asymmetric shock linkage. Fork was deffo a Fox 34 so it was not an Evo model. Always wanted a Stumpie, but an XC bike should probably be next on my shopping list to try to get some fitness back.
-
• #21473
There is a Stump Jumper ST version with just 120 travel
-
• #21474
I'd get the Epic Evo, as it's essentially what the Stumpjumper used to be

I have been reading the reviews for those, certainly looks well thought out.
I’m starting to think about what to ride in Winter, and maybe setting some goals for Spring. Probably the best result would come from suffering on the turbo every morning of course.
In other news my pedals need rebuilding again - I admit I never knew that flats were so needy.
New Canyon Lux Trail has 500mm reach in the XL size
Whether you can actually buy one this decade is another matter
