Mine gets 1500-1800km and I've just charged mine on the move anyway. But if they put the charging on the RD instead of a junction box that's awks.
One of the leaked manuals says shifting isn't possible when the charger is plugged in to the RD.

£700 for a rear mech…

What id really like it designers to stop wasting our time with derailleurs and work on building internal hub gears that don't weigh a ton. That's the future. Derailleurs are so old fashioned and out dated.

I'd go with that along with belt drives that are as good as chains so I never have to touch an oily chain again. But they've not done it in 100 years so I'm not holding my breath.

Makes sense - you don't want your charger wrapped in your cassette. Means it'll never appear on my ultra bikes though.

I still think having an intermediate freehub change only to change it again in 4 years to something they already make, is nonsensical, especially as the cassette means you don't need to 'upgrade' to the new freehub and use your existing wheels.
Bring back the triple

didn't realise this would work on existing 11sp hubs. very nice. may have to raise a green commute initiative voucher through work

So di2 TT shifters are to be updated with firmware to be compatible with 12 speed, which is cool.
Not for 11 speed di2 drop bar shifters though.
-
• #8486
What, so you can buy a single derailleur with it? 😂

That seems odd. I mean, other than pushing people to buy new shifters.

So how would a 1x TT system work then if you had the existing shifters?
EDIT a £20 convertor from old wire to new type, wiring into new battery?
-
• #8489
Perhaps the market for TT di2 shifters isn’t strong enough, or market research suggests that people won’t upgrade from 11 to 12 speed if it meant messing with their cockpit setup?
I believe their rim brake drop bar STIs have to be wired as well and is a different shape to the disc versions, probably just a 9100 lever with a different socket.
So in theory, no reason why 9000/9100 levers can’t be programmed to do 12 speed.

One diagram I peeked at showed a wire from the battery going to a 3 way junction box.
The box had a wire going to the front shifters. In the rim brake version the shifters are wired, no wireless. I think they are identical to my 9100 ones, maybe with the smaller wire.
It would be nice if they work!

^The GCN video I just watched said there was also a “fully wired” DA and mentioned increased battery life but did not elaborate or show anything or mention rim brakes.

no upper limit with GCI :-) can go crazy
unless you are talking about stock levels..... then yeah we will see ha

Not yet, I've already checked eBay

It will be months before that starts. I’m not getting rid of anything I can’t replace.

My Ultegra R8070 di2 doesn't allow shifts while charging
-
• #8498
Why not? Mine does. So did my older Di2 and my newer mix of Ultegra/GRX stuff on the gravel bike.
Do you have a stem mount Junction A? Internal battery? Do you have some other quirk install?
-
• #8499
I've got internal battery with bar end junction box. when i plug into that with a usb power pack it simply doesn't shift. The battery is the DN110 model.

Do you think you could get an 11 speed front derailleur shifting at all acceptably with 10 speed shifters? Shimano wise
Bought a 10speed group off ebay but they sent an 11 speed front, panic bought one off Spa and they called and cancelled the order...
Meant to be doing a century on Sunday
And more expensive than a car at this rate.
