Not recently, but I remember it being more sandy/grav+ with the odd bit of rocks. Rode it on 40c, friends on 32/35s? Not grassy. There was one deep puddly bit at the top of Highgate Rd IIRC; only a brief interlude, not a death march.
There's a bit of a social ride from Hathersage looping round Eyam and High Rake, meeting at 10am if you're interested?
Yeah, that's what I'm heading over to. Figure I'd make a day of it and throw in some bits I haven't ridden for a while. Obviously now realising how early I need to set off, but I guess it's just a good excuse to drink a lot of coffee and snack on everything.
