  • It's probably because I bleed about 20x more shimano, or pretty much shimano tektro brakes without issues then have to do the occasional SRAM and it's always more annoying.

  • GRX is fine (it's so filled up compensates just fine) but my Ultegras were all eB** second hand (levers and callipers empty of mineral oil, new hoses, etc) it was a long process to get the bubbles out and not all came out... Internal hose routing didn't help as front one was easier.

With SRAM and the expensive bleeding kit (since DOT is supposed to be serious I went ahead and purchased the "Pro Bleed Kit" with two massive syringes and spare o-rings etc) it was a breeze to set up. Just clean up any drops with water and rag.

edit: Also with Red and Force callipers/levers it's supposed to be better with less/no air getting in from the ports.

  • how do you do 2 syringe method on Shimano? can you reveal here or onlyfans?

  • Yeah this makes sense.
I don’t find shimano difficult to bleed either really, it’s also quite simple.
But I feel I can get a bleed done in less time with sram bleeding edge.
But likewise this probably because I have four bikes with the bleeding edge port.

  • I now have over 7000km on the same cassette

    That's one TransAm. :)

I have #fuckloads on my two Shimano MTB cassettes.

  • Whack a syringe on both ends and smush some fluid about until it's complete, like all brake bleeds.

  • I find SRAM better for bleeding, and I do loads of both, just because the SRAM bleeding kit is a lot better. Maybe because there's always plenty of ill fitting shimano siringes in every workshop, and the one that fits ok it's lost somewhere.

  • what about threaded interface on reservoir tho?

  • Hold onto your butts.

  • available from October too...? weird

  • As far as I can ascertain, this means that Ultegra 12sp is also only available in a Di2 variant? No mention of mech 8100 anywhere?

  • Is Ultegra going electric only?

"Another interesting addition is a new battery charging port on the rear derailleur, which eliminates wires going to the cockpit for a charging port in that position."

and also makes charging while riding pretty fucking tricky.

  • 'Electric only'

  • Bending cheap chainrings on a bike near you

  • 1000k between charges, I guess us Audax lads are fucked…

Edit: and if they say 1000k I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d get much less than that down here is Cornwall.

  • Battery and spare battery in the carradice mate.

  • Yeah, that's really not great if true. My old old 6870 stuff used to last for way way longer than that.

  • Wonder if they'll announce a mech Ultegra later on....

  • Blurb says it's narrowing the gap to Dura Ace so nope. Identical cept weight now.

  • Sram are laughing the heads off at this

  • Yeah, just heard James Huang say that in the Cycling Tips video. Genuinely quite surprised by this.
