  • Drove that on Wednesday, not sure quite what the appeal of riding down on 100" was.

  • not sure quite what the appeal of riding down on 100" was.

As unpleasant as it is, it's a mile at 35mph for negligible effort. The annoying thing is that on a freewheel bike, you can tuck and coast down it faster โ˜น๏ธ

  • And that version doesn't even benefit from the ski slope ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Ashton Lambie just broke 4 mins for the 4k. Huuuge ๐Ÿ’ช

  • just

    Well, about a week ago

  • Please accept my apologies for my lazy reporting ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‰

  • apologies for my lazy reporting

Less lazy than me, I toyed with the idea of drawing attention to it in this thread but then CBA๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Bit of a long shot but does anyone have an original TriRig Omega for sale?

  • I'm not bothered about VTTA curves I just want a 300 on my PBs list.

Let's see how much I want it though. I'm not sure I can be arsed racing again, putting all my eggs in one basket and then coming up short because of bullshit. I'd need to find more power (or at least apply what I have better over the course of 12hrs - I think I've lost my ability to pace), less pain (more riding in TT kit) and better aerodynamics to comprehensively crack the 300 and not just skin of my teeth it.

Or maybe I'll just take up cycle touring.

  • Any fast 10s I could get into in the remainder of the year? I set my PB after a TCR so feel like I should maybe give some a crack while I've got 2 fails on the board and they're over quick so not like a big mental commitment.

    P881 vs. P881R?

  • P881 vs. P881R?

One goes one way, one goes the other :)
No reason to pick one over the other, any difference is swamped by the variability due to atmospheric conditions.

ETA: You've already missed the closing date for UTAG on the 881R anyway, so your only option is Paceline on the 881

  • Thanks. Yeah, it was the Paceline event I was wondering about. My PB was done on a UTAG event on the 881R.

  • Do you know where the HQ typically is for this course?

  • typically

Typically Liston Hall in Marlow, but there are several alternatives within about a mile. All require riding up to Handy Cross to start.

  • Thank you. Considering the 19/09 event. Though not sure I can be arsed with the drive home to east London through inevitable weekend traffic

  • I think I prefer the 881, on the basis itโ€™s slightly downhill on the way back, so for an even effort you see your avg speed rising in the second half, other way round does go a bit downhill for the last mile but 5-9 are a bit of a drag and itโ€™s tough seeing your avg speed drop!

  • Thanks mate. I think I'll throw it in as a definitely maybe and then see what happens on the turbo leading up to it. In theory I should be faster at that distance simply due to better aero but it's been a while since I've tried a 10 and the power is down in my current position.

I want a big aero session to try out the 'hands up' position and see if it can make any difference for me.

  • It is Liston Hall for this event

  • I think I'll put an entry in. 68 minute drive from E17, fingers crossed for a slightly later start time. How big a field would you expect?

  • It's not filled every year recently, maybe 50 or 60

  • Has anyone gone from hands out to high hands position and got any comments about aero, handling and what you did to achieve it? I guess TTF is probably the place to ask but I can't bare it.
I want to test it out but I don't want to totally fuck up my bike's front end.

  • Fuck up from an aero perspective? How are you testing this?

Handling perspective I've tried a number of hand positions and given you don't steer with your hands nor do they bear much weight, the difference was negligble.

  • I mean, I have hydro brakes and testing a totally different position might require a lot of mechanical intervention. I'd like to see if it's even worth bothering with before possibly ruining my current setup. Actually, if I kept the base bar the same and just swapped out the extensions that might work but presumably you also need to adjust the saddle fore/aft and maybe the stem? You don't just stick your arms up do you? That would just obscure my vision and be useless.
