  • Anyone up for a ride at FOD Saturday or Monday?

  • It's a 32mm so might have to go back. Only 130mm travel left in the Fox for 27.5" wheels which might be outside recommended geometry for Sirius - fact sheet says 130mm max for 29"?

  • Do I remember correctly and someone (Mr Glowinski maybe?) has a Vorsprung Secus?

  • Borrowed a bike today.

    Hmmmm.

Not convinced by Magura. Shop bled too apparently…

No guarantee they’ll do it right. Unless it’s a utility / cargo bike shop. Then you might have a chance.

  • They stopped. But I missed my Hope!

  • I'm waiting for the day someone puts their bars behind their steerer. Negative stem! For when you just need a looonger top tube.

  • Advice appreciated. Having a few relationship issues at home so I think it would be beneficial to get out of the house for a couple of/few days.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to go within a few hour's drive of London/Essex with some beginner/intermediate MTB trails, some nice scenery and a nice pub/B&B to stay in? Planning to go with a friend (vastly better rider than me)
    Any suggestions would be ace...
    Cheers!

  • Stretching the definition of a few hours but the Blue Ball Inn, Triscombe has accommodation, is a nice pub with great food and trails from almost the front door. I went without the bike and would like to go back, the Quantocks are beautiful

  • Thanks both! Your responses made me realise that I missed one crucial piece of information...I need to go via Bedford to pick up my friend, so ideally not travelling south again I suppose. Open to any ideas though! Thanks again

  • Friston forest is good riding with loads of places to stay nearby and you've got the south downs and beachy head, seven sisters for some scenery. Loads of nice pubs and bike friendly coffee shops in the area as well. Its my local area so can give you specific recommendations if you decide to head down. Just realised i was writing this at the same time you were saying about not heading south 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Are you thinking of good trail centres, or more 'natural' trails you can make up a route on?

  • Just make it 3h and head to Wales.

Look for somewhere around Risca to stay, then you’ve got Cwmcarn a ride away and dozens of other trails around Risca/Machen/Cwmcarn
You’ll also have the Tiny Reble Brewery for refreshments and sustenance.

  • Up for either! Probably more 'natural' in my head but open to recommendations!

  • Wales is a great shout.

https://swallowbarnwales.co.uk/Is a nice spot with loads of riding nearby. Natural trails/Cwmcarn/Bike park Wales. Craig & Tamsin that own it have also ridden the Dakar multiple times so if you’ve got any interest in riding motorbikes off-road they run training/days out from the farm

  • Peak District would be another good one to get lost in/clear your head

  • I'd agree Peaks is good for 'big day out' clear your head sort of riding, can stay in Castleton (the YHA is nice and has bike storage), head up Mam Tor direction and explore, loads of options.
Or Wales for steeper stuff if that's what you're into...

  • Rockshox Pike Select Plus 2020 130mm both 29 & 27.5 in stock.

    £341.99 with 'extra10' code

Almost cheaper than servicing your current forks.... 😂 Needless to say I bought some.

  • Great recommendations all around! I've done a bit of research and have a few options to my friend. Thanks!

  • Thanks - just saved me a few quid.

  • I’m about to buy a bootzipper with the cycle to work scheme (although my voucher probably isn’t going to come through before the 10% discount ends tonight)

The reach on a medium is 440 which is considerably longer than all other bikes I was looking at for the purpose. Generally multi-day mostly off road tours.

It comes with a 50mm stem and there aren’t many shorter, is it going to be a problem if I ever wanted to put some off road drops on it?

Anyone know why it’s so long?

  • The fork @no_mates should get. The air spring is super easy to swap and cheap.
