There are going to be big spikes every time there's a mass event in the unvaccinated population.
Until you address the problems of uptake in those groups who distrust government and pharma it's going to be problematic.
I sound like a broken record but until this is fixed were fucked on so many levels.
I don't think anyone working in public health would have told you " this is over" in June.
We're still at the point of pulling bodies out of the stream rather than stopping them falling in to use the famous description.

The thing goes round and round.
Some days its "case numbers are important" others it's "number of hospital beds occupied" others it's "yes but how many hdu beds" and then it's "what do the people look like who are in hdu" and then other days its "what's dose 1 uptake in this lsoa like compared to our overall uptake? Why is it so low?" -

The fact only 63% of the population is fully vaccinated but most people think it is the 80-90% figure the media uses doesn't help
-
• #23330
63% of the total UK pop 0-90?
Is that what you mean? -
• #23331
Yes, only 63% of the total population but they always quote the number of vaccinations in adults so people land up thinking we are far closer to population level immunity than we are

Good to know, well that they are reliable anyway. We just booked the day 2 tests for when we come to the UK next week. £43 each with the code BritishAirways43.
Sadly changing the number in the code to a lower number did not work.

Sadly changing the number in the code to a lower number did not work.
Worth a try though, think I used the code BritishAirways45! (Three weeks ago)

For anyone using Testing For All, they didn’t bother emailing me the result of the test.
Negative, but it was only after logging in today that it showed a result. No comms whatsoever.

My main contact from within is normally a very chilled guy. Last couple times I've seen him he has been very flustered about the situation looming up ahead. For me this is a reasonable barometer for the direction things are headed. :(

Who are people using for the pre-return-to-UK tests? Seems they're only £20ish for lateral flow?
Probably worth making a thread for these "which
Tory ministerlegitimate test provider should I pay to go on holiday?" questions? With recommendations in the first post^ cheapest options

Spanish resorts at least are all geared up with the local private clinics. Did ours about an hour ago €25 each and the clinic staff come to do tests in the hotel everyday

We used London Doctor's Clinic, which was £49 for a video session. Service was good, but a bit gouge-y. OH did the research and booking, sure we'd have been able to get cheaper elsewhere. Think I'd have been a bit happier getting it done locally in Cyprus - don't know about costs, but there were plenty of places doing them.

Local pharmacy in France was where we got ours. Think it was €60 for the both of us and the results took 20 mins to appear in the TousAntiCovid app.
I’m pretty sure the lady who performed the test touched my brain stem with the nose swab, and enjoyed it.

The cheapest LFD tests we could find in Switzerland were 90 CHF each!
The nurse gave us both nose bleeds too.

Did you ignore the “we advise people coming from Spain to use PCR tests” bit of the website?
Not a criticism, we just booked ours to come to the UK and I wasn’t sure how arsey someone might be so erred on the side of caution … cost us €70 each rather than €25!

Covid has got me. Thankfully I’m largely fine and focusing on my wife not catching it.
Here’s something I find strange: me and my dad were at the cricket last week a day or so before symptoms started showing and when I was getting ready to volunteer all of our seat number information, track and trace told me they didn’t need it. I find it very hard to believe the people in seats around us wouldn’t be exposed.
Anyway, thank fuck I’ve been jabbed because it has still managed to put me in bed for three days.

Do the Randox home test kits come in packaging that will fit through a normal letterbox?
Because of course they are delivering today via DPD the day before we arrive back home.
-
• #23344
Not sure about Randox but I think they're all coming in boxes that fit through a letterbox. Seen a few now (including ours) and all were about 25x15cm

We used randox kits on the way back from Poland a couple weeks ago. From memory the kits are packaged together. So 2 kits should be fine to fit through a letter box but 3 may be a bit of a squeeze.
-
• #23346
The Randox tests are letterbox friendly individually but whether they fit through your letterbox or not depends on how many are in the package.
We were ok for letterbox delivery with two tests in a post bag from Randox, and we have a very small letter box.

Thanks all, will await confirmation from the cat sitter

when I was getting ready to volunteer all of our seat number information, track and trace told me they didn’t need it.
Can anyone confirm why this would be so? I’d hope because they’re going to notify everyone in attendance, and not just those sitting next to %~}.

Passenger locator form
It hasn’t sent me the confirmation code text
So I can’t complete the fucking form
Have now tried registering with 3 different email accounts but they are all on hold because I have not confirmed the accounts because they didn’t send the confirmation text.

They’re not going to notify all 25,000 people in the crowd to isolate. I assume this is the guidance with outdoor sports events now.
I'm hoping to be trapped in France...
