  • The extra £75 groundsheet is a piss take. Does come with pole holes and clips so you can pitch the outside only, as above. Did quite a few trips without it but was pitching on grass, eventually caved and got it for peace of mind.

  • Yeah, I reckon if you could get one and then copy the dimensions onto your own piece of material you could probably do a DIY job. I guess it depends if you've got a sewing machine, etc.
    I was listening to Overlander podcast and those guys make a lot of their own tarp setups so it sounds tricky initially but like most things gets better with practice. For me though, with no kit and more money than time I'd probably just shell for the £75 groundsheet and then whinge about the cost for months afterwards. :)

    For the same price I got a bathtub shaped floor insert from Oookworks for the Hilleberg Akto, more suited to wet UK summers when not using the inner tent. The new owner of Oookworks may well make them to suit other tent dimensions, if asked (apparently custom Oooktubs are available) . He also does flat footprints for £60
