I've been working on a kimono. I'm invited to a friend's wedding where the theme is "floral" and the atmosphere relaxed so thought why the hell not. I'd read about the construction technic before but it's still amazing how relaxing it is compared to making western clothes. As looms were traditionally producing 14" wide fabric, every pattern piece had to fit within this width. So everything is a rectangle (save for a few exceptions) and there's little in the way of fabric left at the end.

Now I just need to make a black haori jacket to tone it down...
