• Eddy Merckx Litespeed Titanium EX 1995 Titanium Road Bike

(I know this is not a single speed. But I posted about this rebulid a while back, then got side tracked.
I received some interest and said i would post the result. Which I'm now selling).

This is a vintage classic and a rare top of the range frame.
There are some signs wear, some small marks to the decals
and frame and a slight rattle in the bearings on the front wheel.

    A little bit of background-
By 1995 Eddy Merckx started using Litespeed to built their titanium frames.
Litespeed at the time were owned by the Lynksey family, who sold the company in 1999 and,
later on, set up their own brand again making titanium bikes under the Lynksey brand name.
The Litspeed built Merckx frames were not simply re-badged Litespeeds,
and were built with the same 'century' geometry as Merckx' steel bikes.
Eddy Merckx' made titanium frames from 1995-97. The AX frame was made from 3/2.5 Titanium,
and the EX featured an over-sized ovalised seat tube and down tube,
made from higher grade and apparently stiffer 6/4 ti.
This is the EX made from the higher grade Titanium with the oversized downtube.
Provenance photos can be provided if needed.

Have a look at the photos, if you're not sure about anything,
    just ask.

  • Hi Bob,

    £1295 ono

    Best.

  • If that was a 58 it’d be sold

  • Where is it located?

  • Richmond according to ebay

  • Sorry I'm going to be that guy to spell it out. You need to remove it from here or from eBay. Sweet bike though

  • Nice bike but this is an AX not EX (horizontal dropouts, external rear brake cable routing)

  • Also LFGSS tax? It’s £1125 ono on the ‘bay… so that’s about £980 after fees?

    £1295 ono

Come on, OP. Sort it out, dude?

  • Retrobike tax too...

  • Other two sales threads are on eBay too

  • Hi, Some one just wrote to me about the cross posting. I'm new to posting and did not know.
Thanks to Jack for have a discrete word separately. Seems friendly.
I wanted to gauge interest to see if there was a discerning eye on here having already posted on ebay then though about listing with LFGSS. I realise that it's really just the vintage number that is sparking interest so will take down the others here and soon as I get a mo from family and work will take down the vintage lot from ebay.

  • It's the oversized down tube which is the key I think.
Have a look at this article. It's rather good.

  • Richmond, surrey.

  • I've lowered it to £1000.

  • Bike still available but I was going to close this thread.
I don't know how to delete it though!

  • Sorry, AX 100%

  • But, and I welcome the explanation, the AX did not use the Bi-axely shaped oversized seat tube and the EX did. This frame has that tube. Also the original paint work which was red with the hand painted Eddy livery (but was very badly chipped) said EX so...?

  • Which of these titanium frames is your frame similar to?
    Check out the shape:

    • dropouts
    • top tube
    • down tube
and show the manufacturer's markings - there is another possibility
