  • They may do that but I am pretty sure the issue will just happen again on a new pair.

Im hoping a repair will re-enforce the problem areas.

  • Where are they broken? I've got a pair in a rotation of about 5 that I've been using about 2 years without any trouble

  • Small section of stitching has essentially disappeared from the pad stitching, so the pad in that small area is starting to come away.

Also, essentially every ride a new long thread will be coming away from the outside of the quad section.

  • Mine too, not worn much either. Bad batch?

  • I am not accusing you - but that looks distinctively like something that regularly comes into contact with a part of your saddle and thus, the stitching has worn away. Is that possible? Do you have a similar mark on other bibs that may not have structural stitching there?

  • Accuse away baby because thats exactly what it is. I mean I guess me being squinty isn't Rapha's fault (got hit by a car)....maybe have to suck that up. I actually don't think it rubs there anymore tho, a repair would be well handy.

Will see how far wrong the other stitching goes in the next wee while because all I can do is snip it off.

Used to go out with a tailor too....damn that was useful.

  • Any capable seamstress will very easily be able to fix that for like 5 quid. Understand the frustration, though, but ultimately Rapha will probably not repair what is clearly user inflicted wear and tear.

  • I have worn medium in both for many a year.

  • Yeah already got in touch with one locally, be a lot quicker too.

In reference to my initial post, for others, the customer service woman said that they would re-enforce the problem area with the repair.

  • see also: pulling on bibs too 'enthusiastically' and tearing stitches...

  • I've a set of core bibs back with them for repair currently that have a very similar issue. All my other bibs from rapha haven't had that issue, so I think it may be an occasional manufacturing defect.

  • Does anyone have and want to sell for me their rapha's pink hi viz gilet small or medium?

  • I mean they have definitely been rubbed, but did give up easy.

I'm going to experiment with local repair place and if its convenient, cheap and can make them a lot stronger. Problem solved for the future.

Zero problems with my equally used Assos GT Mille bibs as the stitching method is better suited but they're just a tiny smidge not as good in other areas for me. Still bought a second pair tho.

  • Thought that was just part of the wearing in process...

  • [suddenly the XS fits]

  • Yeah. I've got a medium that I don't use any more. Drop me a PM.

  • Thats very strange I was on the Baum website, for the first time, literally 7 minutes ago.

Very pretty bikes but would absolutely not ride a Rapha branded bicycle.

  • There's enough people in the Rapha cycling club who will buy them I'm sure

  • It's a pretty good looking bike, I was tempted - looked into it and it's £10,800 plus. Not sure what I was expecting but it's a little different to my usual bike budget.

  • Normal Baum price to be fair.

  • Could be the quickest way to get your hands on the nu 12spd tho.

  • Delivery end of 22 I think

  • Purely a joke, I have precisely zero interest in a bike and / or a groupset I will never be able to afford.

  • this has happened with 2 of my rapha bibs. i chock it up to the fact that i have a huge sprinter ass and the bibs are very stretched there.
