These are what thrasher showed me, have no idea why I presumed they were American but TWENTY FOUR would do it

VeloSolo are legit btw. Not that it's much use if they have no stock of anything

I think I will get this JRA stuff, then go see rat race if they have a chain, lockring and bb spacers
thank you

Alternatively, fit one of these Pinion rear spiders and use any 104BCD chainring you like back there

The absolute fuck does this exist?? Can run like 30-30????
-
• #3807
Gearbox bikes ( sorry ) tend to run a 1 x 1 ratio, so 30 x 30 is quite common there

If I cannae make this ssmtb actually rideable for me will have to get one retrofitted

Or these dudes, found out about them on here and am currently in conversation about a chainring. Very helpful.

With the 'standard' 2 x 1 gearing often found on 26" ssmtbs that should look interesting

I think 24 should be fine tbqh
24-30 @ 29x2.1 should get me up most stuff? enough to buzz along on the flatter dirt, unridable on the road
22-47 @ 700x35 was fine for fire roads if a little large for the steepest stuff
One can always walk ofcā¦ but would also like to get round the trail

I've done a few rides on mine and it seems pretty solid overall. Although for almost 40 quid it's rather pricey, mine came off Ali for ~30 including a chain tensioner.

Might have a 21 or 22t cog in the box. Think I sent a 23 to hippy.
24 - 30 does not sound buzzy. Might get you up stuff but everything else will be furious spinning to just creep along.
-
• #3816
Mmmm you are right
Maybe a 22t or 21 would be better
maybe both and one can simply dingle
If I got 10 cogs and something to tension the chain slackā¦..
I think itās best to not over think it as once itās on I will inevitably ājust get used to itā so I think I will heed your advice and go 22
But I have a 22wi free wheel so should definitely just get a Paul word hub built ā¦.
Right?

Rigā¦.

Yes, obviously. But if you need a 21t surly until Mr Paul whips you up a hub, I've found one here you're welcome to.

Damn! Thank you!
I will dm this evening about it!
