  • Said it before and I'll say it again: Neil needs a classic to go full Dammit on. A proper concourse resto.

  • P1800 estate or leccy DS surely.

  • Can someone make a poll where we can choose Dammits new classic project?

  • That Scimitar is fantastic. Timing doesn’t really line up though, sadly.

  • And a proper resto project would have to be an oil-flap 911.

  • That is very cool.

  • Super cool.

  • Those seats look so comfy...

  • Just never use the forensic squads UV light on them

  • But it's not the 16v ;)

Do like the look of a no chrome golf.

  • In xtype news, it has been dripping out oil for 18 hours, and it is still dripping black oil. Have even dropped a bit of new oil in and still the black oil is coming out.
It is still over fueling because of the oil thermostat, so tempted to give it another oil change when it gets to france and has the oil thermostat replaced.

Or am I over thinking this car being a cheap run around?

Tempted to give the brakes a look at, to make sure the pads and calipers move freely...but even then am I creating busy work for myself?

  • As a former teenage driver of a car with velour seats with a busy social schedule, I concur.

  • I’ve been thinking about a runabout (post van) and I have to say one of the cars I have enjoyed the most ( of anything I’ve driven) is the original 1.25 Yamaha engined Fiesta from the late 90’s. I wonder if there are any left?

  • Just do the standard performance auto owner second car play and get one of those not-a-500 abarths. Or the Aston Martin smart car (lol)

  • I drove the E63 to Scotland yesterday, drove to a trail centre from Edinburgh today. It’s immense for this sort of journey. I beat my own “cars overtaken in one go” record, by a surprising amount, also.

  • If I can as after a shit load of fun in a 90s hatch I’d be searching for something french with a Rallye badge

  • Oh I’m sure- I just never drove one, whereas I drove 1.25 Zetec Festers extensively, and very very hard (all things being relative- 74 bhp…)

  • GR Yaris? Though that doesn't really fit the 'cheap' bit of a 'cheap runaround'...

  • Yeah, bit more than £500

  • Yeah get a sub 1000kg hatchback

  • Panda 100hp would be a good alternative to the Fiesta, if you found one of those it would most likely be a cherished collectible now.

I had a Lupo 1.4 16v Sport with 100bhp and that was so much fun, but they’re probably all dead now.

  • I'm thinking more "makes V8 noise

Bit late, but have you had a look at a Lexus?

  • *Partridge looks to camera*

  • Ha!
