My instinct with nice things is that there's no going back
Agree with this.
It's a nice set up but it's not going to bring in a huge amount of money. Unless it's some kind of "downsizing life" type endeavour, I'd be in favour of keeping it.

How very dare you! Indeed, if parted out its probably worth maybe 3.5k give or take. A fraction of what I've paid in total for it all over the years.
The money really isn't the issue at all. It's lack of recent use made me think I could put it into something else, maybe bike related or into work thats being done on the house soon.I think gbj_tester and StevePeel are right though. I know fine well that I'd have regret down the line and getting something new that had performance on par with the amp would cost a fair bit.
I think it's just the stage of life I'm in at the moment. My kids are still young etc.
I can't put a value on the enjoyment it's given me over the years previously though so I suppose that answers it. -

ha he only has one bike and I am not using mine for swaps

Fair.
But also consider the not inconsiderable hassle of doing the sales. Inevitably, the guy that wants to buy your speakers ends up persuading you to meet at a motorway services in the arse end of nowhere, despite the clear statement of "collection only" on the listing.
Let me know if you decide to sell the MAs though :+)
-
• #10133
Ha, if I was to sell it really would be a strict collection only 😂
The MA’s are enormous though and suitable for nothing less than a barn. They were fine when we lived in a flat with a large living room but they are now just a tad too big for the room they are in. Had thought about downsizing to the gx200’s before.

If you happen to be in central Scotland give me a bell!
-
• #10135
Ah, sadly not. London.
I have been known to drive 150 miles or so to collect eBay "bargains" but Scotland is probably stretching it a bit.

I used to have matching walnut gx100's with the proper MA stands but sold them when we moved here as my wife refused to have a 5.1 set up again.
Chap who bought them drove from Harrogate to Glasgow to collect!
-
• #10137
You didn't say they are walnut...
Now thinking Glasgow isn't really that far and I could pretend to be visiting my sister.

Anyone want to swap? I have a pair of Tannoy IIILZ 10" Monitor Golds, fancy trying some Cheviots.

What's the go-to bookshelf / standmount speaker these days that punches well above it's weight / size / price?
Already have a pair of natty leather effect Q Acoustic 3010 in the kitchen hooked up to my old cambridge stuff which are ok, but i'm contemplating something else for the living room. A modern version of the old Tannoy Mercury M2 would be good but those were pretty hefty for a standmount - would the Q Acoustic 3020i/3030i be much better with the increased cabinet size over the 3010 or are there better options i'm overlooking?

Random one, but I stream basically all of my music. I have now used Soundiiz twice, to migrate from Spotify to Tidal (which I didn't stick with) and again from Spotify to Apple Music. It costs $5 per month, but I'm only using it once so it's essentially $5.
Other than some really niche stuff that I probably don't even listen to, it gets almost every single track. Really impressive. Highly recommended.
I am moving away from Spotify due to it shoving Joe Rogan and podcasts down my throat. As As well as it's lack of MFA. The latter of which is just inexcusable.

Is anyone interested in part exchanging or buying my Dynaudio speakers?
New amp doesn’t suit them so looking for something more laid back such as B&W 606 or KEF LS50 but open to other suggestions for bookshelf speakers.
Would either sell or exchange.
My speakers are old but lovely - Dynaudio Audience 40. Will upload photos of actual speakers if there’s interest. Grilles are a bit tatty but speakers in excellent condition. Review here.

Anyone got any steers for entry level CIEMs these days? Been a long time since I bought a pair and my ones which have been disused for years don't seem to work properly anymore.

Second hand ProAc Tablettes?
Bit late with response!

New house and a room solely for music. Downside, most of the time i’ll be listening to music via headphones.
Now the focus is on headphones, I’m considering #buyer on some new stuff to improve the setup. Headphones, I prefer Grado SR-60 (having also tried AKG and Audio-Technica). Using either a Arcam Alpha 3 or a cheap ‘tube’ headphone amp (Sabaj). Source is either a Rega Planar 2 or Apple Airport Express for streaming.
Worth spending on some of more expensive Grado headphones, another headphone amplifier or a cartridge for the Rega (currently with a conical stylus)?
-

I don't like grado headphones, so have no opinion there, but what cartridge do you have currently? Cartridge upgrades can make a big difference. Conical stylus can be great, it depends on the cart. Ortofon 2m red or audio technica at95e are good first upgrades.
Depends. How much money would be left over? How much space would you save? How much do you value those things over what would presumably be a downgrade in musical enjoyment?
My instinct with nice things is that there's no going back, and you will always regret downgrading just for money, but of course a sufficiently large amount of money would make the regret easier to bear.
